A Study on Regenerative Braking in a Hydraulic Winch Application

The paper presents an investigation of regenerative braking in a hydraulic winch application. A model of hydraulic winch with energy absorber from negative load is executed. The research uses mechanic and hydraulic formula in calculation, where dynamics of actuator and effects of hydraulic oil are considered. The system is modelized and an equivalent mathematical model is developed. Numerical tools help to obtain reusable energy via simulation. The numerical results indicate that regenerative braking technology is a considerable solution for improving energy efficiency in hydraulic winch applications.
