In the current trend of technology and computer science development, the application of computer software to solve technical problems in dynamics and combustion of engines becomes easier. However, commercial software packages have very high prices and are difficult to access to small researchers and researchers in developing countries like Vietnam. In that software, Diesel-RK is considered a very good open source software for young researchers, because it is free and capable of simulating combustion and thermodynamics of diesel engines very well. This paper presents the results of the Diesel-RK application to simulate combustion and fuel injection for a marine diesel engine using a homogeneous fuel mixture from ultra-low sulfur fuels (ULSD) and base-palm oil biodiesel fuel (BO). The simulation results are used to evaluate the criteria of power, pressure, and temperature in the engine combustion chamber, and provide very useful data about soot emissions and NOx when using five types of fuel are ULSD, ULSD-B5, ULSD-B10, ULSD-20, ULSD-B50 and ULSD-B100.
