In this work, three types of composite materials were proposed for comparison between them and choice of the best to be an alternative to the material currently available in the manufacturing of the socket. The purpose of selecting a composite material to be an alternative to the polypropylene and obtaining a more strength and lightweight material to bear the high weights of the patients when used in manufacturing of the socket. The study includes the test of the suggestion materials to know their mechanical properties by tensile and fatigue test also measuring the interface pressure between the socket and the remaining part of the amputation to analyze the socket geometrically to find the stresses and deformation caused by the applied pressure and calculate the value of safety factor for each suggestion material. The result shows that the yield stress, ultimate stress and the modules of elasticity is increased in 22%, 15% and 21% respectively for the first group of suggestion material relative to the variable material (polypropylene), While the yield stress, ultimate stress and the modules of elasticity is increased, 56%, 52% and 22.5% respectively for the second group relative to the polypropylene, and 72%, 71% and 36% respectively for third group. The best suggested material to be selected is from the third suggested group (Two layers of bamboo, one layer of carbon fiber, two layers of bamboo, one carbon fiber, two layers of bamboo with lamina) due to its high mechanical properties.
