ABSTRACT: In order to accurately simulate the axial compressive performance of FRP-confined concrete, a new model for stress-strain curve of FRP-confined concrete was proposed. On the basis of the FRP’s constraint effect, combined with the initial region slope, the turning point coordinate, and the second region slope, the developing process of three types stress-strain curves of softening, hardening, strengthening were analyzed, and the conditions which ideal models need to meet are pointed out. A new composite cosine-exponential model was proposed accordingly. By adjusting its parameter value, the new model is applicable for softening, hardening, and strengthening type stress-strain curves which meets the conditions of the ideal model. Comparative analysis of 9 groups’ experimental data indicates that the fitting results of this new model are in good agreement with the measured data with small error and broad applicability.
